A Dream Born

A Dream Born. I have been fortunate that my community has allowed me to serve for so many years. Since beginning my apprenticeship in 1958, working for other firms and studying diligently to master the profession has allowed me to grow. In 1971, I opened the doors to the first Wright Funeral Home. After several unsuccessful years, I went back to assisting other firms and continued to hone my skills. Always determined that one day I would offer "A Special Kind of Caring" to our community. In 1985, I would once again launch out on faith alone. No money--just a vision.

Each year has its proper place in the historical record, but some years are more significant than others. Nineteen-ninety was one of those significant years. It was the year that a dream would flicker and demand recognition. A newborn baby will stumble and fall many times before finally standing firm and walking erect. Such is the saga of Wright Funeral Home, Inc. Harboring a dream and determined to see it materialize. I once again embarked on the task of building a facility worthy of my profession and the families we serve. I would use as my tools: a dream for a level; determination as a hammer; a community's appreciation as my nails; and a renewed faith in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost as my foundation.

With my devoted wife, Jackie, and daughter, Theresa, planted firmly at my side, I would not be denied. Wright Funeral Home is a shining example to what can be achieved by someone who has been down and counted out. It stands as a symbol of what can be accomplished through determination, preparedness, sacrifice, hard work and faith in the Almighty. From a little house by the side of the road, on Sunday, May, 5, 1991 we dedicated the building standing today. This building is simply the structure out of which the dream manifested itself. For the dream was not merely about this building, but about service to mankind. The dream was about service to others. The dream was to truly make a difference at a time of great anguish and despair. The dream was about "A Special Kind of Caring." And because of our confidence in you the dream is firmly in place.
