74, a resident of 4001 Eaton Road, Kittrell, died Friday, June 4 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Dallas Ray Hunter and Alice LeMay Hunter. She was a retired employee of Murdoch Development Center. She was a member of Pettiford Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Owens; Three daughters, Vonda Bell and Tara Shuler both of Creedmoor and Okema Simpson of Charlotte; One son, James Lamont Owens of Harrisburg; four sisters, Cathleen Downey (Cavaster) of Oxford, Joyce Ramsey (Henry) and Sylvia Evans (James) both of Springfield, MA, and Velma Crews (Alexander) of Henderson; six brothers, Randolph Hunter (Carolyn), Rev. Zelton Hunter (Mary), Jerry Hunter (Sylvia), Jerald Hunter (Shirley), Reginald Hunter (Gail), and Wilbert Hunter all of Henderson, and Anthony Hunter (Barbara) of Oxford; and six grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday, June 7 at 1:00pm at Pettiford Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Alvin Downing. A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, June 6 from 4pm-6pm at Wright Funeral Home. The family request that Covid-19 protocol of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more be observed.
