77, A resident of 228 Forest Avenue, transitioned Monday, September 16 at his home. He was the son of the late James E. Hawley and Betty Allen Hawley. He was a self-employed professional truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Yancey Hawley; two daughters, Cheryl Robinson (Alfago) of Henderson and Racquel Harris (Steve) of Oxford; two sons, Eugene Hawley of Oxford and Michael Harris (Marisol) stationed with the United States Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; one brother, Roger Hawley (Rene) of Oxford; four sisters, Leslie Day of Oxford, Sheila Burwell (Arthur) of Creedmoor, Patricia Webb (Johnny) of Oxford and Ernestine Wilkerson (Charles) of Hampton, VA; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Vertelia Mack of Vance County; a brother-in-law, Thomas Mitchell of Raleigh; a vast number of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 21 at 12pm at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. A viewing with a family visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
