71, a resident of 1222 N. Roxboro Street, Durham, died Monday at his home. He was the son of the late James Nathaniel Downey, Sr. and Bessie Green Downey. He was a former bus driver.

He is survived by a step-son, Eric Downey of Durham; a brother, James Nathaniel Downey, Jr., of Durham; and four sisters, Paulina Downey of Orange, NJ, Eugenia Dove of Newport News, VA, Lois Howard and Patricia Downey both of Durham.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 P.M. at Holy Temple COGIC by Pastor James Williams. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, December 5 from 2-4 PM at Wright Funeral Home. All services will observe Covid-19 guidelines of face coverings and social distancing of six feet or more, no more than ten people in the building at any one time. Temperatures will be taken and no one admitted with a temperature of 100 degrees or more.
