75, a native of Granville County, died Saturday, April 13 On Kent Island, MD. He was the son of the late Laura and William E. Baptiste, Sr.

"Billy" died peacefully, with his beloved puppy, Rebel, by his side.

He was a 1960 graduate of the former Mary Potter High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from NC A&T State University, graduating Cum Laude in 1964, He was then commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force where he served fourteen honorable years. He was then employed with the United States Department of Energy for thirty-two years.

A lover of water, he resided on his yacht on the Potomac River for many years until moving to Kent Island, MD.

He is survived by his son, William E. Baptiste III; a grandson, William E. Baptiste IV; two great grandchildren; his sister, Janet Baptiste Jones (Linton) of Upper Marlboto, MD; two nephews; a special friend, Mary Brewin; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Friends and family will gather Monday, April 29 at 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home Annex for a Memorial Celebration.
