93, a resident of 1413 Raleigh Street, transitioned on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Eddie Leon Tyler, Sr. and Minnie Hamme Tyler. She was a former in-school Suspension coordinator with the Granville County Board of Education. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church.
She was a 1948 graduate of the former Mary Potter Academy and Shaw University with a bachelor's degree in foreign language and English.. She also earned a master's degree from Alabama State University in Education. She had employment experience at Saint Jude Catholic School and Lowndes County High School in Montgomery, AL. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, of Oxford-Henderson chapter; Friends of Philo Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Eta Sigma, Atlanta chapter, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Ladies Auxiliary, the local Aeries 714 Atlanta, GA, the recipient of the rotary Foundation of Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Posey of the home; granddaughter Jennifer Wilhelmina Ajuda of Atlanta; GA; siblings, Eddie Leon Tyler, Jr. of Oxford and Gloria Joan Tyler Williams of Washington, DC; nieces, Debbie Tyler Wilkerson (Barry), Angela Virgie Williams and Rachel Yvonne Williams; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends
At her request, Rev. Edward David conducted a private service on Thursday, Jan. 18 at Wright Funeral Home chapel. Burial was with her husband, Hercules Posey, in Meadowview Memorial Park. The family thanks you for your understanding and your prayers.
