Wilbert Ray Hunter, 79, of Meredith Lane, Henderson, transitioned on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Vance County to the late Dallas and Alice Lemay Hunter.

He is survived by three daughters: Michele Vickers (Louis) of Henderson, Nicole Fields (Richard) of Lawrenceville, GA, Kendra Fields Twitty (Corey) of Norlina; three grandchildren: Eric Venable, Nashanti Chavis, and Corey Twitty Jr; three sisters: Cathleen Downey (Cavaster) of Oxford, Sylvia Evans (James) of Springfield, MA, Velma Crews (Alexander) of Henderson; six brothers: Minister Randolph Hunter (Carolyn), Pastor Zelton Hunter (Mary), Jerry Hunter, Jerald Hunter (Shirley), and Reginald Hunter (Gail) all of Henderson and Anthony Hunter ( Barbara) of Oxford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Thursday, May 7 at Cornerstone Christian Community Church (3237 Knotts Grove Rd, Oxford, NC 27565) by Reverend Zelton Hunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Wednesday at New Covenant Christian Center (3714 Salem Rd, Oxford, NC 27565).
