35, a resident of 403 Laurel Oaks Dr., Durham, died Wednesday, June 24 at Duke Medical Center. He was the son of Floyd Thornton and the late Carla Oliver. He was a former Food Lion Employee.

He is survived by four children, Ale-Yah Janell Thornton, A-Yana Ja-Zelle Thornton, Shawn Jarrell Thornton, Jr., all of Rock Hill, SC, and Carter Jarrell Thornton of Raleigh; his father, Floyd Thornton of New York; a brother and sister, Demarcus Quintel Oliver of Raleigh, and Alexis Sherrell Thornton of Henderson.

A private graveside funeral (limited to fifty people with social distancing) will be conducted Wednesday, July 1 at Meadowview Memorial Park. Please remember your face mask - it could save your life.
