a resident of 4071 Dooster Street, died Sunday, Sept. 22 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Jim Chavis and Catherine Harris Chavis.

She is survived by her husband, Ellis Hawley; two daughters, Delores H. Hunt of Oxford and Diane H. Floyd of Georgetown, Texas; two sons, Colonel L. Hawley of Oxford, and Ollie Hawley Johnson of Greensboro; two sisters, Rosetta C. Taylor of Richmond, VA, and Bessie C. Satterwhite of Oxford; a brother, Earlie Chavis of Creedmoor; fifteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 26 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Granville Baptist Church by Rev. James Isaac III. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home.
