79, a native of Granville County, died Sunday, Feb. 20 at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late Pleasant "Plez" Marrow and Mary Anna Marrow.
"Stickman", as he was affectionately called, had the gift much like his mother for playing the piano. Give him almost any instrument and he could play it. He had a joke for any situation and could light up the room with his smile. He loved telling his nieces and nephews stories of when he was growing up and all the adventures he had as a child. He worked for Ryder Moving Company for over twenty-five years and retired in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Lee, and three nephews, James and Calvin Wilkerson and Ronald Marrow. He is survived by his companion for over thirty years, Shirley Emery; two daughters, Carolyn "Denise" Marrow of the home and Samantha Marrow of Brooklyn, NY; one son, Stanley Marrow of Cottage City, MD; an adopted daughter, Desiree Gordon; two sisters, Theresa Wilkerson of Oxford and Gloria Knox (Tommy) of Charlotte; six grandchildren, McRae, Tristan, Deyal, London, Brooke and Sidney; four great grandchildren; three nephews, Bradley Wilkerson, Vincent and Tyrone knox; three nieces, Jacqueline "Jackie Strong (His favorite as he called her, Pamela Parker and Roslyn Lee; a very close friend and father of his grandsons, Ramchurin Roopnarine "NDN".
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 19 at 11am at Davis Chapel Baptist Church cemetery. Blue balloons will be released at the graveside. Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more will be observed. A celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following the burial at Grassy Creek Community Center.
