89, a former resident of New York and a native of Vance County, died Tuesday, June 21 at Granville Medical Center. He was the son of the late Roy Hawkins and Annie Thorpe Hawkins of Vance County. He was a retired truck driver.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 25 at 12:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Henderson. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, June 24 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the residence of Ernestine Downey, 6402 Pine Town Rd.
