88, a resident of 112 Halifax St., died Tuesday, Jan. 17 at his home. He was the son of the late Ervin Hawkins and Jessie Harris Hawkins. He was a retired Master Carpenter.

He is survived by his former wife and long-time devoted friend and caretaker, Louise Wilkerson Hawkins; a daughter and son (also caretakers), Sherry H. Cowan of South Boston, VA and Maurice Hawkins of Oxford; three sisters, Catherine Hicks of Fayetteville, Josephine Blackwell of Roxboro and Martha Harris of Oxford; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 21 at 3pm at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20 from 7:30pm-9:30pm at Wright Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Meadowview Memorial Park.
