Roosevelt Chavis, 81, a Granville County native transitioned on April 1, 2026 at his residence in Jersey City, New Jersey.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Trusdale Chavis of the home; one son, Vincent Trusdale Chavis of Jersey City, NJ and three sisters: Dorothy Chavis of NJ, Nancy Woods of VA, and Mary Ann Bullock of Henderson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm, Saturday, April 11 at Wright Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
