75, a resident of 725 Baker Street, died Wednesday, March 31 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was the son of the late Robert Speed, Sr. and Alice Thorpe Speed. He was a retired employee of Certainteed.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen Evans of Durham and Marjorie Speed of Oxford; three sons, Brian Speed and Robert Speed III both of Durham and Antonia Speed of Oxford; three ssisters, Catherine Webb of Timberlake, Josephine Speed and Ella Mitchell both of Oxford; five brothers, Michael Speed of Saudi Arabia, Dennis Speed of Durham, James Speed, Charlie Speed and Danny Speed all of Oxford; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Rev. Robert L. Mason will conduct graveside services Monday, April 5 at 2:00 pm at Meadowview Memorial Park. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services (all services will observe Covid-19 protocol of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more).
