Paul "Pete" Hammie, 72, of Rectory Street transitioned on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Duke University Hospital in Durham. He was born in Granville County to the late Graham Thornton and Jacqueline Hammie Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Green Hammie; goddaughter, Whitney Green Henry (Charles) of Oxford; one sister, Carletta Smith of Raleigh, two brothers, Reginald Smith of Raleigh and Badee Shabazz (Denise) of Georgia.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm, Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Meadowview Memorial Park (6163 US-15
Oxford, North Carolina 27565). There will be no public viewing.
