71, a resident of 303 Driftwood Circle, Creedmoor, died Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Veteran's Hospital. He was the son of the late Andrew Thornton and Bessie Wilkerson Thornton. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by a brother and sister, Min. William P. "Boot" Thornton (Ailene) and Ms. Vallory Thornton both of Oxford; and a very dear friend, Catherine Morgan.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 9 at 2pm at Wright Funeral Home by Rev. James Isaac III. Burial will be in New Hope Granville Baptist Church cemetery. Chapel services are limited to fifty attendees selected by the family. Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more will be observed. A viewing has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 from 4pm-6pm at the funeral home.
