84, a resident of 5609 Oakley Hill, died Wednesday, April 24 at his home. He was the son of the late Melvin Dorsey Oakley and Lenoria Chavis Oakley. He was a member of New Corinth Baptist Church.

He is survived by six daughters, Sylvia Michael of Mt. Clair, VA, Myra Lindsey, Virginia Beach, VA, Naomi Swartz of Bullock, Glenda Thorpe, Donna Winston, and Joycelyn Tuck all of Oxford; six sons, Michael Oakley and Keith Harris both of Oxford, Gerald Oakley of Erie, PA, Carlton Bailey of Manassas, VA, Patrick Sidney of Raleigh, and Lambert Allen of Youngsville; four sisters, Odessa Harris of Hampton, VA, Patricia White of Newport News, VA, Ellen Whitaker of Brooklyn, NY and Anna Cooper of Oxford; and two brothers,  Andrew Jamerson Oakley and Samuel Oakley both of Oxford; thirty grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 29 at 1:00 P.M. by Rev. Harold Watkins at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in New Corinth Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday, April 28 from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home.
