95, a native of Granville County and the daughter of the late John Randall Skinner and Fannie Smith Royster Skinner Eaton, died Tuesday, July 9 in Silver Spring, MD.
She was a 1945 graduate of the former Mary Potter Academy. She was a former member of Olive Grove Baptist Church and was a member of New Redeemer Baptist Church in Silver Springs. She earned a Degree in Business Administration from Durham College (Now North Carolina Central University) and was a retired employee of the Federal Government in Washington, DC.
"Bet" as she was affectionately known, was married to the love of her life James Thorpe on October 16, 1950. She is survived by a son, Eric Thorpe; two daughters, Bettina T. Tucker and Joyce Thorpe all of Maryland; a brother, Larry D. Eaton, Sr., of Oxford; and a sister Myrtle Skinner Allen of Oxford.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 17 at New Redeemer Baptist Church in Silver Springs, MD. A viewing will began at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.
