84, a resident of 3652 Plantation Road, Bullock, died Wednesday at Duke Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Mary A. Hargrove and Thomas Pettaway. She joined Mt Zion United Church of Christ at an early age. There she sang in the choir and was the first director of the Youth Choir. She attended Townsville Elementary School, West End High School and the former Henderson Institute.

She is survived by seven children: Karen Royster (Ellis) of Cameron, NC, Yvonne J. Parker (William) of Henderson, NC, John A. Daniel, Jr. of Roxboro, Carl L. Daniel (Danielle) of Roanoke, TX, Deonne Evans, Tommy Daniel, Sr., and Leon W. Daniel all of the home; six grandchildren she reared in her home, Glenn Evans, Jr., Ashley Daniel, Tommy Daniel, Jr., Tiera Daniel, Darius Daniel and Alexander Daniel; ten additional grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sons adopted by heart, Daniel Keith, Jr., Michael Keith and Eric Keith; siblings, Harold E. Hargrove (Rev. Glendora), James Hargrove (Lucille), Thurman Daniel, Juanita Cozart, Eugene Hargrove (Debra), Mary Pettaway, Queen Pettaway, Brenda Pettaway, Hattie Venable and James H. Pettaway; a great aunt, Dorothy Wimbush; a very special friend, Dennis Keith, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 6 at 11am on the grounds of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ by Rev. Calvin Brooks and Rev. Steven Hargrove. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, September 5 from 2pm-4pm at Wright Funeral Home. All services will observe Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more.
