87, a resident of 27 Delta Dr., Roxboro, died Monday, April 30 at his home. He was the son of the late Ambrose Lee, Sr. and Helen Brooks Lee. He was a retired Lt. Col. with the United States Army.

He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, 4 O/S Bars, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Devise, Vietnam Medal Second Class, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Jay Lee; two daughters, Helen Lee Johnson of Roxboro and Paula Anita Lee of Timberlake; two son, Austin R. Lee, Jr. of Roxboro and Patrick Todd Lee of St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 5 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Roxboro by Rev. Kenneth Stokes. Burial will be in Peace Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. A viewiing is scheduled for Friday, May 4 from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Hester-Whitted & Day Funeral Home. Wright Funeral Home is assisting the Hester-Whitted & Day Funeral Home.
