73, a resident of 405 Prospect Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Granville Medical Center. He was the son of the late John Melvin Oakley and Willie Nelson Oakley. He was a retired Health Care Technician.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Chavis Oakley; a son and daughter, Ralph Thomas Oakley and Linda Faye Oakley both of Oxford; a brother, Elbert Oakley of Oxford; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 1:00 P.M. at new Hope Granville Baptist Church by Rev. James Issac III. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday, Jan. 6 from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home.
