89, a resident of 1008 Raleigh Street, died Tuesday, July 2 at Veteran's Hospital in Durham. He was the son of the late Frank Norwood and Tempie Allen Norwood. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an associate minister at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline N. Bullock of Henderson, Julia N. Banks of Greenville, and Elizabeth N. Harris of Laurel, MD; four sons, Joel Norwood, Jr, of Raleigh, James Eric Norwood of New York, NY, Kelvin Norwood of Henderson, and Reginald Norwood of Aberdeen, MD; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 6 at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Lennis Thorpe. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, July 5 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home.
