Jean Carolyn Smith, 83, of 4050 Dooster St. transitioned on Friday, May 30 at her residence. She was born in Granville County to Marie Wilkerson Smith and Haywood Alex Smith, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Thursday, June 5 at New Hope Granville Missionary Baptist Church (5643 Old Roxboro Rd Oxford, NC 27565) by Reverend Charlene Morton. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing is scheduled for 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Smith Stainback of Henderson; two grandchildren: Brittannie Stainback and Derrick Stainback, Jr.; four great-grandchildren: Brianna, Demarion and Christopher Stainback and Kaleb Parker; two sisters: Catrelia Smith Latta of Oxford, Margaret Joiner (Wayne, Sr) of Creedmoor, two brothers: Haywood Smith, Jr of Oxford and Early Smith, Sr. of Oxford.
