Obituary

100, a resident of Brantwood Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, quietly transitioned from this life to eternal rest on Thursday, July 4. She was born January 10, 1924 to the parentage of the late Robert L. Hargrove and Mary Harris Hargrove in Oxford, North Carolina.

Janie was educated.at Antioch Elementary School, Angier B. Duke and was a graduate of the former Mary Potter Academy. She attended North Carolina College in Durham, North Carolina and was a graduate of Fayetteville State University in 1943. She became a devoted and beloved teacher.

At an early age she joined Antioch Baptist Church where she was a Trustee and a member of the Choir and Usher Board. She also taught Sunday School and was a Missionary member. She would later join United Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church as a founding member. She served as a Trustee, Choir member, Pastor's Auxiliary and Chairperson of the Flower Club.

Janie's life was dedicated to the Lord, her family, friends, students and church. She was a former member of the Daughter's of Isis, Eastern Star and Les Gemme, Inc. She was proud to be a member of the Retired Teacher's Association of North Carolina.

She leaves to cherish sweet memories her daughter, Lucy Hester Allen of Oxford; a granddaughter, Adrienne Davis; two nephews, George Hargrove (Felicia) and Ronald Allen; three nieces Yvonne Hargrove, Janice Hargrove and Tressie Rooks; a vast number of great, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Ethel Williams, who ensured she was cared for and safe as her health declined; Carolyn Smith who cared for her and visited her faithfully! Dr. L. Francine Chavis, who loved her dearly and was dedicated to her and her family.. Last, but not least, Reverend Janette Paschall and Deacon Simon Paschall who gave her spiritual comfort and friendship.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 13 at 11:30 am at United Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Jeanette Paschall. Entombment will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, July 12 from 4pm-6pm at Wright Funeral Home. Facial masks are not required but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
