Obituary

79, a resident of 3154 Davis Chapel Road, died Sunday, Nov. 14 at Universal Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Tolliver, Roy Giles and Athenia Hickman.

She was a very loving and caring person which led her in the profession of caring for the elderly for the pass twenty-five years. Even after she retired she visited the sick and shut-in until her health declined.

After a careful study of the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses, she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on November 5, 1983. Janet loved her God Jehovah and appreciated all of the bible truths she had learned, moving her to regular pioneer from 2012 to 2017, devoting seventy hours in the ministry per month. She did this with joy until her health declined yet still displayed the "pioneer spirit" and preached the good news of God's Kingdom whenever she had an opportunity. She enjoyed Christian meetings and gatherings, and loved to associate with her spiritual brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her son George Nathan Norell, Jr. (Junebug), siblings Naomi "Betty" Hickman, Ruth Brown, William Hickman and Michael Hickman.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: daughter, Francine Hart (Earl) of Stovall; sons, Mario Thornton of Brooklyn, NY and Dwayne Thornton of the home; her spiritual son and daughter Jeff and Tina Bullock of Stem; siblings, Jean king, Thelma Dean and James Tolliver(Carolyn) of Christianburg, VA and Paul Hickman (Linda) of Roanke, VA; sister-inj-law Barbara Hickman; devoted friends Linda Harris, Cora Stovall and Sarah Hatcher; her caregiver Amanda Williams; and a special "thank you' to her baby Joshua (Duke) Brandon; her grandchildren, Nisha, Janika (BooBoo), Anthony, Henriquetta (Mookie), Quez, Kisha, Erica, Kyshaun (Pumpkin), Montae (Roadrat), Mya, Yanii, Zy, Trayvon, Quatavius (Tae Tae), Kyree, AJ, Samr, Khalil, Kazlya, Bella, julia, William (Frankenstein), Amira (Princess), Zytavion, Johan, Jonah, Eryn (CoCo) and Z'Karee.
