78, a resident of Granville County, died Tuesday, July 31 in Atlanta, GA. He was the son of the late Shurney Winston, Sr. and Bertha Winston.

He was a graduate of Morristown High School in Morristown, NJ where he was an all-state performer in football, basketball and track. He attended the University of Iowa on a football scholarship.

He is survived by two children, Sheryl Winston and Brian Winston, Sr. both of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Ashley Winston, Brianna Winston, Endia Winston, Brian Winston, Jr. Kyndal Winston and Elizabeth Winston all of Atlanta, GA; a great grandson, Kaiden Webster also of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law, Janet Winston of Morristown, NJ; a special friend, Annie Nesbitt of Oxford; and a vast number of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, August 11 at 11:00 A.M. at Wright Funeral Home Chapel.
