52, a resident of 7063 Old West Lane, died Sunday at Duke Medical Center. He was the son of Mary Ann Green and the late  James Henry Thorpe. He was an employee of ADUSA Distribution Center in Butner.

He is survived by his wife, Dione Johnson Thorpe of Durham; three sons, Ke'Shawn Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Joshuya Thorpe of Durham and Jy'Kis Thorpe of Oxford; two daughters, Sy'Narria Thorpe of Oxford and Kaona Thorpe of Mooresville; a grandaughter, Assata Nefetari; fourteen siblings, Sheila Crisp, Babe Andrew Thorpe (Ann), Shirley J. Thomas, Darlene Thomas, Barbara W. Evans, Patricia Medlin, James S. Thorpe (Wilacent), Pamela D. Lester (Kenneth), Darry Thomas (Rea), Ronnie Thorpe (Net), Priscilla Thomas, Barbara A. Cozart (Wayne), George Outlaw and Barbara J. Armfield.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 16 from 5pm-7pm at Wright Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more will be observed.
