68, a resident of 7165 Highway 96 North, died Wednesday, March 18 at Granville Medical Center. He was the son of the late Thee Thorpe, Sr. and Hazel Jones Thorpe. He was a retired employee of the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hobgood Thorpe; four sons, James Thornton, Johnnie Cooper, Jr., Kenneth Cooper, and Dyrel Cooper all of Oxford; two daughters, Tara Thornton of Oxford, and Yolanda Cooper of Durham; two brothers, Thee Thorpe, Jr. and Leroy Thorpe both of Oxford; four sisters, Patricia Robinson of Charlotte, Ernestine T. Smith of Hillsborough, Margaret Hargrove, and Alma Wilkerson all of Oxford; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James Issac III. Burial will be in New Hope Granville Baptist Church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, March 21 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home. Remember the Corona virus regulations requires that we limit attendance at funeral services to 50 or less. Others are asked to pay their respect and condolences on the day before services.
