Obituary

97, a resident of 509 E. Church Street, Creedmoor, died Saturday, Nov. 6 at Duke Hospice. He was the son of the late Clarence James Moore and Katie Lee Smith Moore.

He was a retired entrepreneur, having worked and owned numerous businesses in farming, building, contracting and Moore's Dinette. Throughoutmlife he was a member of numerous civic and community organizations such as the Sertoma Club,Riverside Sportsman Club, Mason, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, church trustee, church treasurer, male chorus of Pine Grove Baptist Church, then later a dedicated member of Peace Missionary Baptist Churech. James was politically active, especially with voter registration, encouraging community involvement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grayce Hall Moore, siblings Grace Moore Harris, Annie Moore Mangum, Warren Harding moore and Ruby Colleen Moore Byers. He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Beryl Moore Jackson of Huntersville, Maria Antoinette Moore of Durham and Wanda Melita Moore of Raleigh; his son, James Michael Moore of Arlington, VA; a grandson, William Harp, Jr. (Delvin); four great grandchildren, William Harp, Willow Harp, Camille Eliuse Jackson and Kyndall Jackson.

The family will be forever grateful for the love and support shown by all during their time of need and during his health complications.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 13 at 11am by Rev. Edward Davis and Rev. Gregory Ceres at Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery, next to his devoted wife. A viewing has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 12 from 5pm-7pm at Wright Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the cemetery. Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more will be observed.
