87, a resident of 304 Peace Street, died Monday, August 15 at his home. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of the former Mary Potter Academy.

He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" Jones of the home and Amarie "Peaches" Cheatham of Oxford; two sons, Albert L. Jones of Jacksonville, FL and James Thomas Jones of Richmond, VA; a sister, Ruby A. Brandon of Oxford; three brothers, Edward Jones, Jr. of Oxford, Richard P. Jones of Henderson and Moses W. Jones of Charlotte.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 21 at 3:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home by Rev. Renita Timberlake. Burial will be in Cheatham Memorial Park with military rites. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, August 20 from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home.
