82, a resident of 303 Saddletree Road, died Monday at VA Medical Center in Durham. He was a native of Franklin County and the son of the late Herman Hawkins and Oza Fogg Hawkins. He was a veteran of the United State Army.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at Concord Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. by Reverend S. E. Blalock. Burial will be in Hawkins Family Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to services at the church.
He is survived by a wife, Bernice Massenburg Hawkins; one son, James E. Hawkins, Jr., Henderson; a daughter, Jacquetta A. Hawkins, Durham; one brother, Herman Hawkins, Kittrell, six sisters, Geraldine Hall, Oxford, Marie Ray and Ilean Mattocks both of Henderson, Ruth Payton, Raleigh, Yvonne Basheer, High Point and Oza Sanders, Brown Summit; and two grandchildren.
