84, a resident of 117 Halifax Street, transitioned Monday, Oct. 21 at Hock Family Pavilion. He was the son of the late Robert Black and Rebecca Allen Black. He was a long-time agent for North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company.

He is survived by his son, Martin Black of Durham and his daughter, Katherine Black of Henderson; three sisters, Alma Rollins, Ila Harris and Ethel Wilkerson all of Oxford; two brothers, Rev. Rev. William Black of Oxford and Johnnie Black of Woodland; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Oct. 25 at 2pm at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. A viewing has been scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home.
