75, a native of Granville County, died Wednesday, April 15 at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of the late Julius Thomas Bass and Mary Belle Anderson Bass. He was a 1963 graduate of Mary Potter High School.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Bibby Bass; six children, Hope Bentley (Harry) of Chicago, IL, Shelia Bass of Cincinnati, OH, Portia Bass-Hudson, Forest Park, OH, James Bass, Jr. (Pamela) Lexington, KY, Tawana Bass of Forest Park, OH, and Sonya Bass, Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Clifton S. Bass (Janice) of Oxford; two sisters, Patricia B. Leatherberry (Earl) of Brighton, MN, and Shirley B. Ragland (Carlton) of Durham; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Graveside services (limited to 50 people with Social Distancing) will be conducted Thursday, April 23 at 12:00 P.M. at Olive Grove Baptist Church cemetery by Rev. Johnnie White. There will be no public viewing. Please remember to practice social distancing.
