James Arthur Williams, 85, of Durham transitioned on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Duke University Hospital in Durham. He was born in Vance County to the late Zebedee Williams and Cornelia Vincent Williams.

He is survived by two step-children, Milicent Lewis-Daye of Greensboro and Adrian Lewis of Franklinton; three sisters: Martha Rogers and Ethel Williams of Oxford, and Helen Hardison (Sheldren) of Durham; and two brothers: Frank Williams (Freeler) and Bobby R. Williams of Oxford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12pm, Thursday, November 12, 2026 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park.  Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
