83, a resident of 809 Hancock Street, Durham, died Monday, June 28 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Elijah Wilkerson and Georgianna Thornton Wilkerson. For years she worked as a Retail Associate at Roses Department Stores.
She is survived by her husband, Deacon Fred Brooks; three daughters, Sheila Curtis of Durham, Shanta Brooks of Zebulon and Felicia McGee of Loveland, OH; four sons, Jasper T. Brooks of Raleigh, Dewayne Brooks of Elon, Alfred Brooks and Jeffrey Brooks both of Durham; three sisters, Bernice Link and Carrie Green both of Oxford and Gloria Ragland of Mattapan, Mass.; sixteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 4 at 2pm at Wright Funeral Home by Rev. William Black and Rev. James Isaac III. Burial will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Capacity will be limited to fifty attendees selected by the family. All attendees are to observe Covid-19 guidelines of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more.
