87, a resident of Newark. NJ, died Saturday, December 19 at South Mountain Health Care Center in Vaux Hall, NJ. He was the son of the late Charlie Daniel and Senora Kersey Daniel.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Cynthia M. Cozart of East Orange, NJ; his son, Melvin M. Cooley of Oxford a brother, Bishop James Daniel (Beulah) of Creedmoor; a step-granddaughter, Dalila Cozart of Barksdale AFB, Bossier Parish, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Melvin M. Cooley II and Michelle N. Allen; five great-grandchildren, Delajah Cooley, Camile Cooley, Jayla Cooley, Clifton Allen and Anna Ramero all of Oxford; and a brother-in-law, Willie Cearnel of Creedmoor.

He was predeceased by three brothers/sisters-in-law, Charlie T. Daniel (Ethel), Roy Daniel (Mary) and Benjamin "Ben" Daniel (Virginia Smith and Gloria Tilley). Three sisters/Brothers-in-law, Rosa Daniel, Mable D. Cearnel (Claude), Virginia D. Harris (Claude) and Dorothy D. Cearnel.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday, December 28 at 12:00 P.M. by Rev. Andre F. Gilliard and Bishop James Daniel. A graveside viewing will began 11:30 A.M. A viewing is also scheduled for Sunday, December 27 from 2-4 PM at Wright Funeral Home.
