Haywood Alex Smith, Jr., 73, of 4049 Lyn Street, transitioned on November 30, 2025 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham. He was born in Granville County to the late Haywood, Sr. and Marie Wilkerson Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 5, 2025 at Greater Harvest Full Gospel Baptist Church (5110 Antioch Rd, Oxford, NC 27565) by Pastor Charlene Morton. Viewing will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 4 at Wright Funeral Home.

Survivors include three children: Shanniska S. Howard (Anthony) of Huntersville, Ka'Misha S. McLeod (Richard) of Franklinton, and Shaun Lewis of Butner; two grandchildren; two sisters: Catrelia Smith Latta of Oxford, and  Margaret Joiner of Creedmoor, and one brother: Early Smith, Sr. of Oxford.
