63, a resident of 36 W. Waycliff Road, Henderson, died Tuesday, December 18 at his home. He was the son of the late John D, Puryear and Alazada Hicks Puryear. He was a former employee of Duke University Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hunter Puryear; a daughter, Shiease Puryear (Brandon) of Wake Forest; a son, Javier Puryear (Brandi) of Greensboro; three brothers, Ronnie J. Puryear (Janet) of Knightdale, Anthony Puryear (Gloria) of Raeford and Reginald Hicks (Francine) of Oxford; a step-mother, Marjorie Tyler Puryear of Oxford; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 22 at 1:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home CHapel by Elder W. David Morton. Burial will be in Huntsville Baptist Church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, December 21 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home.
