97, a resident of 6176 Highway 96, transitioned Tuesday, June 24 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Curtis and Gracie Allen Curtis. She was a member of New Hope Granville Baptist Church.

She is survived by four children; Lou Thornton, Jr. Christine Williams  and Dorothy Thornton all of Oxford, and Carnell Thornton (Connie Jones Thornton) of Matthews, NC; eight Grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 29 at 2pm at New Hope Granville Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. James Isaac III. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing has been scheduled for Saturday, June 28 from 4pm-6pm at the funeral home.
