72, a resident of 5616 Tabbs Creek Church Road, died Tuesday, April 3 at Duke Medical Center. He was the son of the late Robert Hunter and Pattie Lue Ward Hunter. He was a former employee of J.F.D Electronics, Lauren's Glass Plant, Certainteed Corporation and was self-employed at Hunter's Garage.

He was a graduate of the former Mary Potter High School and J.C.C. Truck Driving School. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as an usher, trustee and a member of the Board of Deacons.

He is survived by four children, Cynthia E. Hargrove, Darrick Hunter, Vikkie Hunt and Sandra Wright all of Oxford; five siblings, Dorothy Taylor (Joseph) and Clementine Hunter of Henderson, Vivian Harris of Oxford, Carmen Shelton (Fred) of Greensboro and Earl Hunter (Rev. Ethel) of Manson; six grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Dawes (James) and Edna Peace (Theodore) both of Oxford and Alice Taylor of Morrisville, NJ; four brothers-in-law, Hayward Taylor (Gladys), Alfred Taylor (Linda), Vernon Taylor (Teresa) and Michael Taylor (Tracey) all of Oxford; a goddaughter, Vanessa Barker; a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 7 at 3:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tonya Hedgepeth. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, April 6 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home.
