Gordon "Scott" Basnight, 65, a resident of Mountain Road, transitioned on Tuesday, December 16, at his residence. He was born in Orange County to Gordon Lee Basnight and Rebecca Margaret Davenport Toole.

He is survived by his wife, Madelene Josefsson; seven children, Mary Williford (Todd) of Oxford, Philip Basnight (Sarah) of Oxford, Teresa Basnight of Louisburg, NC, Christina Abbott (Carter) of Henderson, Jazzman Harrington of Oxford, Marquida Harrington "Kiki" of Seattle, WA, Torgny Basnight (Krista) of Oxford and Timothy Currier of Oxford; nine grandchildren; his parents: Gordan L. Basnight (Gayle) and Rebecca Davenport-Toole (Edward); siblings, Greg Basnight of New Bern, Kevin Basnight of Oxford, Virginia Meehan of Willow Springs, John Fletcher of Iowa, Matt Basnight of Holden Beach, Meg Wester of Lewisville and Chris Basnight of Youngsville.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11am, Monday, December 22 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (140 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565). Viewing will be from 5pm to 7pm, Sunday, December 21 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel.
