Geraldine Beverly Hawkins Hall was born on October 23, 1929, in Franklin County, North Carolina. She was the second oldest child born to the late Herman A. Hawkins and Oza Fogg Hawkins. She entered her heavenly home on Saturday, August 21, 2021 after a brief illness.

Geraldine received her early education in Franklin County at Haywood Elementary and Concord Elementary and graduated from Franklin County Training School in 1947. She furthered her education at Bennett College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1951. Following college she began her career teaching in Franklin County at Cedar Creek, Perry's and Riverside Elementary Schools. She later moved to Oxford teaching at Orange Street Elementary, C. G. Credle Elementary and West Oxford Elementary until she retired in 1987. She received awards for dedicated service for teaching. Geraldine taught for a total of 36 years.

While working in Franklin County at Perry's School, Geraldine met the love of her life John Hall who she married August 7, 1960. The couple settled in Oxford, N.C. God provided them with a daughter - Marva. Later years she was blessed with a grandson - Mustafa Jabari.

Geraldine accepted Christ at an early age and joined Concord Missionary Baptist Church, Kittrell, North Carolina where she was a loyal and devoted member. After uniting with husband Rev. Dr. John Hall, she provided faithful dedication, love, and support in the uplifting of his churches - St. Matthew Baptist Church, Blue Wing Baptist Church, Chapel Hill Baptist Church, and Red Bud Baptist Church - as well as her own church. She was made a Honorary Deaconess at Red Bud Baptist Church. She received awards from the churches for her support as Pastor's Wife.

Geraldine was a member of Nature Lovers Garden Club. She served as treasurer for the group. Her love for flowers was reflected year-round in her yard. Over the years Geraldine was active in civic and community organizations. She received life membership from the NAACP. Was a member of the Concerned Citizens of Granville County and had Educational Affiliations - NEA, NCAE & NC Retired School Personnel, Association of Classroom Teacher.

Geraldine loved traveling. She visited the Holy Land in Israel twice, Egypt, Jamaica, Hawaii, California and many other places. She enjoyed cooking and was told by her mother that she cooks with love. She prepared Christmas dinner for the family and did it until 2003. Geraldine loved church and continued to listen to church service on the internet during the Covid pandemic. She was a generous person giving to numerous organizations to improve the well-being & health of others. Was recognized for outstanding contributions as Life Member of the Bennett College National Alumnae Association. Loved her family unconditionally and was willing to help anyway she could. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will forever be missed.

She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Marva Hall-Parks; one grandson, Mustafa Jabari Parks; a special nephew - Herman Hawkins, III; one brother - Herman A, Hawkins, Jr. of Kittrell, NC; sisters - Marie Ray and Ilean Mattocks of Henderson, NC; Ruth Payton of Raleigh, NC; Yvonne Basheer (Muhsin) of High Point, NC; Oza Sanders (Major) of Greensboro, NC; sister-in-law - Bernice Hawkins of Oxford, NC; a host of nieces & Nephews that she adored; a vast number of cousins and caring friends. Geraldine was preceded in death by her siblings Myrtle H. Blakely of Brooklyn, NY and James E. Hawkins of Oxford, NC.

Rev. Edward Davis will conduct a graveside service Saturday, August 28 at 3pm at Hawkins Family Cemetery, 3228 Sims Bridge Road, Kittrell, NC. A viewing will be held Friday, August 27 from 4pm-6pm at Wright Funeral Home. All services will observe Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more.
