96, a resident of 1190 Still Meadow Drive, Creedmoor, died Sunday, December 31 at Treyburn Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late George Speed and Mary Thorpe Speed. Se was a retired employee of Duke University.

She is survived by three sons, Jimmie Howard of Creedmoor, Willie T. Howard of Burlington and James Howard of Durham; two brothers, Roosevelt Speed of Oxford and Nelson Speed of Roxboro; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 5 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Granville Baptist Church by Rev. James Issac III. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, January 4 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home.
