83, a resident of 817 Franklin Street, Roxboro, died Tuesday, April 17 at Duke Medical Center. He was the son of the late Walter Jones and Louise Whitted. He was the owner of Hester-Whitted-Day Funeral Home. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Banks Whitted; a son, Fred Whitted, Jr. of Roxboro; two daughters, Fredrika "Ricky" Whitted of Smyrna, GA and Reubena "Beanie" Whitted of the home; two sisters, Janice Bright (Clyde) of Roxboro and Nancy Brown of Baltimore, MD; and a brother, Steve Jones (Mary) of Roxboro.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, 414 Main Circle in Roxboro, by Rev. Kenneth Stokes. Burial will be in the Smith family cemetery in Chatham, VA. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, April 20 from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Hester-Whitted-Day Funeral Home, 603 Main Street in Roxboro, and two hours prior to services at First Baptist Church.
