85, a resident of 224 Oak Ridge Apartments, died Sunday, July 9 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Thornton and Beulah Thorpe Thornton.

She is survived by seven siblings: John Thornton and Lue Perry Thornton both of Henderson, Esther Terry, Hallie Allen, Estelle Puryear, William Thornton and Geneva Harris all of Oxford.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 13 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Granville Baptist Church by Rev. James Issac III. Burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12 from 11:00 until 6:00 P.M. The family will receive visitors at the home of David and Estelle Puryear, 3091 Watkins-Wilkinson Road.
