82, a native of Granville County, died Sunday, April 17 at Virginia Beach Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Tanner and Goldie Jones Tanner.

She is survived by two daughters, Robin Witherspoon of New York, NY and Charlene Miller of Gainesville, VA; a son, Keith Waterman of Virginia Beach, VA; a nephew, whom she raised as a son, Markham Tanner of Virginia Beach, VA; one brother, Joe Tanner of Durham, NC; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 23 at 10am at Carolina Memorial Gardens. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, April 22 from 2pm-4pm at Wright Funeral Home. All services will observe Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more. The family thanks you for your cooperation.
