88, departed with an angel on the evening of Friday, March 8 to gain his just reward. He was born December 24,1935 in Granville County, North Carolina to the parentage of the late John Lee Marable and Victoria Williams Marable. He was employed with General Processors as a supervisor for over twenty years, Perfect Packed Pickles for another ten years and three years with Burlington Industries.

He was married to Dicie Marie Hawley on March 15,1958 and together they raised their loving daughter, Marie. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, working in his yard, fishing, hunting and visiting the sick and shut-in.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dicie Hawley Marable, and a brother, Willie Marable.

He is survived by his daughter, Marie Hawkins of the home; one grandchild, Johnny Lee Hawkins of Seattle Washington; three sisters, Mary Bishop (Percy) of Lousia, Virginia, Olivia Clayton and Minister Sarah Miles both of Sleepy Hollow, New York; a sister-in-law, Sarah Venable (Charlie) of Oxford, North Carolina; a special great nephew, Rodney Speed of Oxford, North Carolina; a special friend, Ruth Nelson of Henderson, North Carolina; a vast number of nieces, nephews; other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 13 at 2pm at Wright Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Charles Burwell. Burial will be in the Allen-Hawley Family Cemetery in Person County. A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 from 4pm-6pm at the funeral home. You are requested to observe covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more when possible.
