74, a resident of 503 Kingsbury Street, died Monday, May 2 at his home. He was the son of the late George Carr Hunt and Beatrice Hunt Parker. He was a retired thirty-four year employee of Bandag Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Ann Hodges Hunt; three sons, Eric B. Hunt (Dorothy) of Henderson, Ernie T. Hunt of Oxford and Ervin Hunt (Tonya) of Durham; four sisters, Margaret T. Lara of Atlantic City, NJ, Deborah H. Jay (Zelodis of Oxford, Diane H. Marable (Willie) and Carolyn H. Eaton(Michael) both of Kinston; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren; two aunts, Mary Alice Sanders and Joann H. Ward both of Oxford.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Earl Thomas "Butch" Hunt, Jr.; a great granddaughter, Shimiere Waller; and five brothers, Renzie Thorpe, George Hunt, Lonnie Hunt, Colonel Hunt and James Donnell Parker.
Rev. James Isaac II will conduct a graveside service Saturday, May 7 at 1pm at New Hope Granville Baptist Church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, May 6 from 4pm-6pm at Wright funeral Home. Its the families request that Covid-19 protocols for facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more be observed.
