63, A resident of 6685 Alvis Brooks Road, died Monday, Feb. 15 at his home. He was the son of the late Burley Clayton and Alice Green Clayton of Person County. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army and a former employee of the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife, Centerethia Thorpe Clayton; two daughters, Elaina Maria Clayton of Stovall and Comonik Bumphus of Roxboro; four sons, Douglas Clayton of the home,  Derrick Clayton of Oxford, Brian Thorpe of Oxford and Douglas Bumphus of Roxboro; five sisters, Doris Clayton and Maxine Bass both of Roxboro, Judy Clayton of Oxford, Joan Clayton and Linda Ann Clayton both of Nashville, TN.; three brothers, Larry Clayton (Joan), Walter F. Clayton (Alisa), and Donald Clayton all of Timberlake.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steven Hargrove. Burial with military honors will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20 from 12pm-2-pm at Wright Funeral Home. Covid-19 protocols will be observed at all services (facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more, and only ten people allowed in the room at any one time for viewing, and  a limit of fifty people for funeral services).
