50, a resident of 503 West C Street, Butner, died Sunday at his residence. He was the son of Mary Alice Thompson Downey and the late Henry Downey. He was a professional truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Moss Downey; four children, Zahwani Pennix of Virginia, Destiny Downey of Pittsboro, Christopher Johnson of Creedmoor and Terance Johnson of Youngsville; two sisters, Linda Humphrey of Durham and Angela Bynum; a brother, Nelson Downey of Chapel Hill; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 20 at 3pm at Carolina Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the cemetery. Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more will be observed.
